Last May I introduced iGavolt, (The iPhone App that puts a Jewish Grandmother in your Pocket) to the iPhone App store. Priced at $.99, I began a number of marketing initiatives to get the app out there and start ramping up sales including 6 PR placements in Jewish newspapers around the world.
But alas, over the next 11 months, only a few hundred sales of iGavolt.
Why the lower-than-expected sales numbers?
- Too small of a niche market?
- Not the right marketing mix?
- $1 is too expensive?
Although the answer is a mixture of these reasons (and others I’m sure), the other day I decided to make iGavolt free.
The result? More than 500 downloads in three days! Incredible.
Along with my iPhone dev partner Stuart Rubin, and our combined apps (Grogger Factory, New Year’s Noise, Lulav Wizard, and iGavolt) we are going to begin implementing AdMob into our apps, to see what kind of ad revenue we can generate.
Stay tuned…and in the meantime, download iGavolt. It’s FREE.
What are your thoughts on other ways I can ramp up the sales?
